Tomorrow Arlee and I will depart for a three-week journey to the Philippines. It's likely that we will have sporadic access to the internet and our phones. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we embark upon this voyage. Thanks, and we'll see y'all in December!
Well, we're back. All in all we had a great time despite the traffic that makes the worst L.A. traffic a cakewalk, the pollution from smoke-belching vehicles, the heat and the humidity. Some days it was 80% heat and 80% humidity. The air hung heavy with moisture. Pretty awful. Then there are awful, heartbreaking scenes of abject poverty that being me to tears just as I write this.
Here are some photos of Arlee's vacuum cleaner and his 11-year-old great nephew who clearly enjoyed using it! I don't recall the brand since I didn't pay all that much attention to it. It's the same basic machine as the others of its type. It's pretty quiet. One of the two buttons on the top is an off-off switch and the other one adjusts the power.
The other photos show how many Filipinos polish their floors -- with coconut shells cut in half, which they push back and forth with their feet.
I don't recognize the vacuum-what kind is it?NICE FLOORING-Coconut shells-a foot powered floor machine-Whatever works! You will get good exercise that way!And it would be cheap!
