That socket under the timer is a convenience outlet- it could be used for a coffee pot, electric frying pan, slow cooker, griddle, etc. That would be a 120 volt outlet (somehow) even though the range is 240 volt. Any electric range over here is 240 volt, along with electric clothes dryers, water heaters, and large air conditioners. All of our wall outlets are 120 volts, which is an entirely different type of plug, so you can't accidentally plug your 120 volt vacuum into 240 volts.
