Well, I had the day off, so I thought I'd try my hand at painting. I made a C- in art as an 8th Grader, only because the teacher was my Mom's best friend. I should have failed that class! So an artist I am not! Anyway, this bag came on the Model 515 that I picked up a few weeks ago. The bag was in excellent shape, but the screen printed logo had worn off. Some of the paint isn't fully dried in this photo. I turned out ok, but not great. I just hated to have a perfectly good bag with only the faded outline of a logo. It looked odd. I would snap a closeup, but then you all would see just how bad the paint job REALLY is!!!

Back Home!

I couldn't wait the four hour drying time the instructions call for, so I went ahead and put it back on the vacuum. I may touch it up a little tomorrow. I don't want to mess with it too much, because I don't want to make it worse!

Touched up Kirby logo...

It doesn't L@@K too shabby.

Especially when you compare it to the 'bags we don't have' yet! You know, ...the 'invisible bags!!!' The 'new' replacement black bags are very classy LQQKing on the restored Kirbys; however, they are not the originals.

Also, 'skills & techniques' may always be improved with time & practice!

"Practice does not necessarily make perfect." However, PERFECT practice does quite possibly make perfect.

I will consider sending you some to re-do, when I need them to be done.

(If someone complains about the job you did, have them put on some 'beer goggles.' EVERYTHING L@@Ks better when wearing a pair of them. ~~lol~~)

Cheers & hagn all,

Bill

Doug, logo & discounts...

Hello Doug (as well as other members).

I don't know for sure the reasoning for not putting a logo on the cloth bags, whether the logo be a current style or a retro style.

We as collectors know how classy & important the logos are; however, if Kirby felt it was justifiable monetary-wise, I'd think they would.

That said, the parts are available for many, many models going back many decades; & in today's business climate, that in and of itself is very rare. I commend Kirby on this & also that they honor their rebuilding program & prices (even if not in the 'original' colors as we would like).

I think we have all noticed how the variety of color choices seems to be dwindling though. I'm sure it is a streamlining of the business. Remember, they (Kirby) have a reputation for consistently building quality [& thus longevity], & not necessarily the most beautiful color [to everyone]. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!! ~~lol~~

I often joke that they (Kirby) are utilizing one of Henry Ford's mottos, "...any colour that he wants so long as it is black."

Myself, I would love to see the NLA/obsolete original parts still available. (It's nice to dream, isn't it? ~~lol~~)

DISCOUNTED PRICES:

Eurekastar (Bill) is correct, my prices are consistently discounted & often 'substantially' less than you'll find other places. (Thank you for noting this, Bill.)

On the 'rare' occasion I've found a price I wasn't lower than, the shipping of it was 'padded,' & I DON'T pad my shipping.

I posted a few 'EXAMPLE reference prices' in another link, I'm sure you've seen. He's the link to it anyway:
