It is a rebadged Royal. I think the bag is off a clements Packard though. If only I was closer, looks like a great project!

Hmm

I didn't see PA Geier on it.
I do have a circa 1927 pa Geier model 88 and a 1928 handvac.
It is not too far if they would ship. I imagine I could sale the bag for price of the vacuum.

3rd picture on the craigslist ad shows the model plate, it says PA Geier on it. This machine is identical to my Lincoln. Older model Packards were made by Clements, I think 1940 and earlier. The bag is original to this machine, Clements has a very different bag ring / connector shape. Packards usually seem to have a strange bag design, with a big round metal lid on the top that unscrews to empty the bag. Hard to tell, but I think this one has that bag. Whoever ordered Packards must've spec'ed that weird bag.

I've often wondered if the model number corresponds to the year it was produced. If that's true, a 1950 is one of the newest I've seen and would put it at the time of the bathtub era Packard cars. I'm guessing the round bag top was purely for easier emptying. I wonder if any other Clements vacuums had that same bag design?

Bag design - not to my knowledge. I've only seen that easy empty can lid on Packards. If you ask me - and I'm purely speculating here - I would say that Packards and Lincolns *are* related to the car makers in some way. Likely a group of dealerships decided to order some vacuums. That's the only reason I can imagine why the model number is a year (1941, etc). If these were ordered by department stores or appliance companies, it would make more sense to assign model numbers that could actually be useful. Actually it could possibly be just one dealership that sold Lincolns and Packards.

Ironically, the Cadillac brand has zero affiliation with the car maker, it just so happens that Clements liked the name and trademarked it.

The Packard I have is a rebadged Royal. It was a premium that when you bought a Packard Car they gave you a choice of a vacuum, refrigerator or other appliance.

I would assume that Lincoln also did the same thing.

A friend of mine has a Packard salemans book that mentions all the different items they offered to get you to buy a Packard.

Interesting

I have been to quite a few car shows. There are alot of Packard diehards.
Packard didn't last so I'd imagine it's pretty rare.

Buy

A fridge and make an embelem on that large you made the wheels for the Cadillac.
I was installing 8inch 10 ft long stainless steel direct hot water line and I was filing down the grooves so the coupling would fit and not get stuck. I don't know why but making wheels on a lathe came to my head. When I mean I was installing I mean 5 people using a lift and a come along. I filed and helped place the pipe.
