I had no idea that the S-3 upright was still in production into 1960..how late did they make it? Was that manufactured by Singer? I have that small canister and it's bigger matching canister, also have an S-2 upright but would love to have an S-3 to match the canisters. Mine has a cloth dumpable bag, at what point did they go to the disposable bags, and did they have to intake tubes to match the dual fan path? Were the canisters indeed Eurekas with a Singer badge, there are so many similarities? Sooo many questions...I know. Really interested in the Singer history.

Once again, the 1949 advertisement. Must be a damn fine mach

I second that, Rick!

Imagine a futuristic and trend-setting vacuum of 1949 still in production 11 years later, with all the progress made on the technical and design front over that decade. I guess Singer could advertise the 1960 Magic Carpet as new because of the disposable inner bag? Everything else about it looks identical to the 1949 S1.

It makes me hopeful that there are many more S-series Singers out there to be found and welcomed into collections.

I want a pinkish taupe to put beside my grey S2.

Here's a mindblower, I have an S-2, in fact there's a picture of Morgan vacuuming with it in last years post convention newsletter. It is gray, and no lady at a sewing machine on the logo, just the S. Go figure....
