Hi all.
As I mentioned in a different Oreck thread, someone I know had a Commercial upright; model XL2100RHS. It's a 2016 TTI model.
I was told in advance that it wouldn't power on. My hope was the simple disconnected wire inside the Helping Hand. (Which I learned about from the helpful folks on this site!) That's the first thing I checked, but all looks fine.
Next, I opened up the bottom cover to see if there was anything jammed in the fan. Eureka! (Or...Oreck?) There was what appeared to be a sock, completely jammed inside the fan housing.
Aside from that, and a couple of superficial gouges to the front corners of the base, the machine looks virtually brand new. No funky smells. Everything is still nice and shiny; even inside. It is missing the two screws that attach the upper portion of the handle to the connector. But they shouldn't be too hard to find. The black reinforcement brace thing is there, but no screws to hold everything together.
I was practically giddy, believing that all would be perfect, once I removed the offending hosiery.
But, when I got everything back together and clicked the switch...nothing. It acts just like when the wires to the switch are loose or disconnected. But, we've already ruled that out.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to why it won't run?
Could it be that, when the sock jammed up the motor, it was left on for too long, and the motor overheated and burned out? I don't even know if that's possible.
I'm just so disappointed that such a clean, low mileage machine might just be trash after all.
