It's rare to find one with the original plaid bag, mine has it as well. I worked part time in an Oreck store for several years, and I was lucky enough to take one in on trade. That noise at the end doesn't sound serious compared to a similar noise only louder on a recent Hoover Air steerable, which I only kept for a month. If they're not abused, Orecks can outlast some other brands which come to mind, depends on the user and maintenance given to the machine.</blockquote>
