Oreck Intake seal

I have an Oreck Platinum Pilot from 2011 and my local Oreck Store has closed. Apparently every Oreck Store in my state and neighboring states have closed. I want to get an intake seal off of Amazon so I can perform my own tune-ups, but I’m not sure if it will work for a Platinum Pilot or if it fits all Oreck’s. I’m putting a link down below I’m just going to end up doing my own tune-ups now.

Hey

I can't get link to work but I'm almost positive the seal is similar to riccar. The vacuum repair shop used silicone. I'd just use silicone sealant and not worry about ordering it.

I'd try and find the part first and use silicone as a last resort. That stuff gets messy really quick trying to apply it, and its usually permanent.

Silicone can be peeled off. It could have been liquid gasket I don't recall. It created seal machine needed. The vac shop is a riccar simplicity distributer.

@mieles5380leo glad to hear at work sending you a seal. It's a specific felt seal for the model machine. Very different then the riccar seal or any other gasket.
Make sure you always use genuine stuff do not try to use liquid caulk or any sort of Bojack solution.

Below is a video where I show the normal service for the xl21 based oreck family of vacuums. on the pilot model you do occasionally have to change out or rebuild the neck with a different seal and Greece.

Ball joint

Yeah I saw a tune up procedure video for the ball joint swivel neck and I do believe mine needs that. I tighten the locking screw a lot because my pilot tends to lean a lot for some reason. Tightening that screw every once in awhile helps. What does everyone think about putting a synthetic or endurolife belt in the Pilot? I’m thinking about putting a synthetic belt in this time instead of a rubber one for better torque and no stretching. The Oreck Store told me that only the forever model of the Platinum Pilot with the hall sensor uses this and mine is a 2010 without a hall sensor and just the 10 year warranty. Should I put a synthetic belt in anyway? It has a plastic end cap roller.

@mieles5380leo definitely pick up one of the pilot service kits or have it serviced.

I not put the lifetime belt on a model not designed for it. The pilot forevers and the gold forever whatever other names are on them these days, have reinforcements along with the sensor to allow it to work properly. My concern is you need to change out not only the brush roller, but the base plate in the main housing for the additional reinforcements in the plastic.

Would keep that machine OEM. I do see forever oryx for sale often Cheep on my local Facebook marketplace and Craigslist.

Just found out

Apparently Oreck doesn’t even make the intake seal anymore. The Oreck store informed me that they just wash the intakes and don’t replace the seal. That’s kinda poor if you ask me. Where would I get a pilot service kit? And where would I get Oreck intake seals if they do in fact still make them somewhere? I will be keeping this machine oem.

No parts are made anymore - all that's left is NOS. I can't believe Oreck themselves can't make their own seals or doesn't even save excess parts.

If it's really just a felt seal, get a sheet of felt and cut one out.

@mieles5380leo from what I can tell they're still available from essco who is the distributor for TTI parts in North America. Shouldn't be trouble for really any vacuum shop to get.

It was a authorized Riccar dealer. It was on rsl4 and similar oreck super lite I referred to uses the same seal.
A seal is a seal. I'm not trying to bojack anything. Oreck is no longer a company. If they sale a felt gasket and I can make my own felt gasket for 20 cents. You take off the label you wouldn't know which was which.
I see your point but I fix my own vacuums and this place I trust to fix the gasket. They didn't charge me for it. They are authorized Riccar/simplicity dealer. They have been for a long time.
Original oem parts are optimal but vacuum collectors are cheap by nature. I agree with the belts but disagree on said part.

I’m not taking it to the dealer. They want me to trade it in so bad that they offered me $100 for it. I’m still unsure about if I should use the synthetic belt or not, some people say do some people say don’t. I just want a belt that doesn’t stretch which should give the vacuum way more torque and clean better and longer lasting than a traditional rubber belt. I’ll most likely just end up making my own gasket I guess.
