Opinions on Vax Air3?

Its OK for the money - if you can get one for under £130.

The base model only has a pitifully short hose though, so you might want to condsider a higher model in the range if you want a longer hose.

I got the Air3 Agile from Currys last year, when they first came out - I''ve used it a fair bit and apart from the hose, and its poor connection to the tools and the wand which forever keeps falling off, Its OK as just an upright cleaner. Its very light and not too noisy. As with anything from Vax - its hit and miss whether you will get a perfect one though, or one with manufacturing defects.

Personally HiLO I wouldn't bother. It swivels like a SEBO Felix but it won't lock up properly after some time and the swivel on the Vax is pretty lightweight and cheap.

I found the Air3 models to be harder to use than my Vax Mach Air Reach with its "fixed" traditional process.

But then with either model, when the brush roll switch is turned off for cleaning hard floors and provided that they are level and flat, they can be a right bu**er to shift. As a result I learnt the early way - despite having a brush roll on/off I ended up cleaning hard floors with the brush bar constantly on.

I have...

Just been given one of these from a friend.

The problem they have had with it is that grit makes it's way into the pivot mechanism. This leads to the cleaner head riding up off the floor as you push it forwards. My pal soon had enough of this!
It's easily remedied with some WD40, I've probably done that to it four times it the last year.
The original air's cyclone is much more efficient. The air 3 seems to let quite a bit of dust through to the pre-filter.
The one I have is the base version too, the hose is ridiculously short.
It isn't that loud though, and it has stiffer bristles than the original.

Try one! So long as it's from somewhere you can return it if you happen not to like it.

One thing I really like about the air range is the small cleaner head. It pokes on places only cylinder heads dare to go!

For Steve saying the hose on the base model of Air3 is short, it's 1.5 metres. Wasn't the hose on the original Vax Air 1.1 metres?
