Welcome to the new 'improved' economics of the 'Thrift' store. Must be driven by those CEO salaries; certainly staff are paid no more than minimum wages.

Prices have been creeping up all around my area. It got so bad the the local ReStore, under new 'management', people stopped shopping there for used donated appliances and building materials. Restore asked folks why and were told their prices were outrageous - same thing at the Goodwill and St Vincent dePaul now. Ridiculous prices.

The single holdout for continuing thrifty prices seems to be The Salvation Army store and Bibles & Missions outlets.

I volunteer at a ReStore and we have good prices. Red Racks (local thrift chain) on the other hand, not so much! I bought my D3 at the Restore for $10-15, and it has all the accessories!

We do 30+% off of what the retail was on appliances and building supplies, and on sale days, you can get even more! Hell, 60% of my vacs came from there! :)

Sad to hear of one getting greedy, but I've seen several thrift stores that way.

I think I paid $65 got my D3 at a thrift store three years ago or so. Since it worked really well and I just needed to replace the hose, brush roll and belt... oh, yeah. I did have to order all of the attachments and a tool caddy. But, still. I think I got a good deal.
