Question

Specifically the ones with the handle activated switch. When you used the attachments did you have to drop the handle into the operating position for the machine to turn on or was there some kind of override?

There's no "Over-ride",

The converter pan simply snaps into place on the Brushroll opening.You still have to put the handle down for it to run in Attachment mode.
