Hello everyone,

I recently purchase a new power nozzle for my recently-acquired Sentria II because while the original one works fine, it has deep scratches that are beyond my ability to remove and have the results look good. The new nozzle has the same part number as the original, CA140089, but the performance indicator light is on the opposite end. I can make my existing brushroll work if I flip it end-for-end and cut off the bristles that are rubbing where they shouldn't, but I would rather install the correct brush roll. Can someone provide me with a Kirby part number for it?

Thanks,

Joel

How strange.

I'm going to take a guess and say that's a G3 or G4 nozzle on that machine which was re-trimmed and given a new belt lifter. I'd guess that someone was refurbishing a group of them and wasn't paying too much attention.

Could be . . .e

The seller wrote that the factory assembled these nozzles from parts on-hand. So your explanation is reasonable. Thanks.

Still need to know what brush roll is correct for this nozzle. Again, thanks.

Get a brush roll for a G3 or G4 with the magnet on the proper side to match the nozzle and you'll be in business. Flipping your brush roll around won't solve the problem because the bristles will be angled the wrong way and it won't pick up debris properly.

They switched sides for the LED beginning with the G5 but I've heard some early G5's still had the LED on the other side. Guess they were using up some G3/G4 nozzles they had on hand.

"the factory assembled these nozzles from parts on-hand."

Whose factory? Kirby or random oddball seller? That is a 30 year old Kirby G4 nozzle that has been trimmed with Kirby Avalir belt lifter and Sentria 1 scuff guard.

You got conned on that part and I would send it back and get your money refunded. It's just a botch job.

With Kirby parts, you don't need a part number. They are so prevalent, just search for one on eBay.

The Sentria 1 & 2 nozzles look like this

Problem Solved!

I'm happy to write that the seller made good - not that I had any doubt they would. After I sent them the above image, they wrote back that they don't open the boxes when they get these nozzles from the Kirby factory (although that probably will change now.) They declared this to be a factory error, and they immediately sent me a brand-new G3/G4 brushroll at their expense. I don't care that the new nozzle isn't a Sentria II one; in fact I like the performance indicator light better on the left side. I was never bent on having a showroom-perfect Sentria II or even that model in particular; I just wanted my Kirby to look as good as possible while I can get the necessary parts to make it so.

It fits fine, it works fine, it looks fine to me, and I'm happy. Based on the seller's response, I do not believe I was scammed or conned. They did say appearance may vary, and I was fine with that.
