Oddball hoover?

Couldn't help but get some daily dosage of my hoover elite style machines on google, (lol) so I went on and found this odd looking hoover. Called a breego?? I'm guessing it's the UK version or something? anybody know any origin of this machine? It looks like the last hoover sprint ever made, the bagless version .

That was a cheapo Hoover from the mid-2000s. I know for sure it was available in 2005, if not earlier. Here is the description of the model from the Hoover website on the Internet Archive:

I Used to sell those

HA I used to sell those back in the day when I owned a bricks and mortar vacuum store. The vac worked really really well for the price so long as you never wanted to use the attachments. The hose was so inflexible it was hard to even point at the skirtings
We sold those in Aus for about $200 back in the early 2000's

It was never available in the UK but rather, sold in Australia under the title "Hoover U5025 Breeze/Sprint Upright."


 


Certainly does look like a Dirt Devil inspired model with the hose and handle taken from the old DD Jaguar / Swift (in the UK) bagless uprights.

I absolutely detested those inflexible hosed uprights (from any manufacturer). I remember fixing some model of machine that looked the spitting image of an Electrolux "Contour" upright, in red, with a grey plastiflex hose. The hose was too short to be of any practical use. Just too horrible to contemplate.

Haha, that sounds like the Dirt Devil/JMB/Bush uprights that used to sell in the catalogues and Index. I had one as a student and truly detested it but the landlord wouldn't get rid of it. Awful, awful vacuums that had good power but a real struggle to push and pull despite the height adjuster. The upside is that they were made of much better plastics and could sustain quite a lot of abuse.
