Glad we are not the only ones...
Just like many here, I like sorting things by type, color, etc. I also have set routines that save time in my day.
Stuff in the garage I like contained by type and have it labeled. Car parts are sorted for what car they go to. Generic stuff is sorted as that. Kirby parts are sorted in categories, too.
I like to try displaying my collectables in groups which would all be from a certain time period. Of course with limited room, this gets tough. Hard to see a 50's fan next to a 30's radio. lol...
When vacuuming I always start with hose and dusting brushes, using a top-down approach, using one clean brush for upper dust-only areas and another brush for areas down low that may have had food crumbs, dead bugs, etc. After All rooms are done, the floors are done, then the carpet. This makes it easier to not have to change attachments too much, and dust that is knocked down from above has a chance on still getting picked up.
When lawn mowing, I used to alternate patterns, making marks from the wheels create unique patterns in the grass. Now I have one set pattern that I use all the time to get my mowing complete in only 20 minutes or less. After my recent surgery, my neighbor mowed for me and he spent almost an hour since I have so many trees and odd-shaped gardens and buildings.
I sort my clothes in the closet by type, sleeve length, colors, etc. Therefore I know where to go when seeking something.
My ladyfriend, a big vintage clothing collector, takes most of my closet space and my techniques passed on to her as well. First rod, tops - camis, tanks, sleeveless, short sleeve, long sleeve. Then short sleepwear and robes. Other rod is dresses (short, then long), pants, skirts, and long sleepwear and robes. All had solids and prints segregated as well. She did well with color groupings like I did, too.
BUT THEN---- I introduced her to ROY G BIV. She went nuts... I told her I was kidding but no, she was in the closet for hours, hehe... BUT, then she dragged my engineering experience into it. 'Where does black, white, gold, grey and silver fit in?" I regretted starting this, but it was good time together - we figured it all out. So now the closet is a big rainbow of color - beautiful!
She has one separate closet for lame-fabric stuff (pronounced la-may). She tried moving me out due to overcrowding, but no - my paltry six coats stay.

I can go on and on - OCD all the way...
