Was looking for a good wind tunnel self propelled since they only just discontinued not too many years ago. Always wanted to try the self propelled on it and it feels really nice. Picked up this one in rather nice condition from a local thrift store and it works almost like brand new!!!!! Here it is pictured alongside with DD Ultra MVP I own, which I would assume was one of its main competitors when the Self zpropelled first launcher in 1997, with brush roll on off feature etc. Only difference is they out ran the dirt devil by about 20-21 years LOL but I an very pleased with it as I've been looking for one in good condition for awhile. The blue contrast the red nicely!!!!!

Both very nice!

That's one of the later Windtunnels for sure. That's the version I've been on the lookout for. For some reason, although the older ones are much more detailed in appearance, I like these later ones.

Nice Dirt Devil too! I remember seeing those for sale back in the late 1990s, at a place called Bud's Outlet, which was a sort of discount store operated by Walmart. I recall another version that was blue, and had cord rewind, variable speed, and a little drawer to store extra belts and light bulbs.

Magnum MVP....

Was the name of the blue one. That I've actually never seen a picture of but would love to!!!!! There's a red ULTRA MVP that had the cord rewind feature too!!!!

As for the Wind tunnel. I actually wanted one of the American made ones for Christmas, but the vacuum was literally in pieces on arrival. I went out the next day and thankfully found this!!!! Even though this was produced under TTI, I still consider it a Maytag machine, minus the motor of course!!!!

Those wind tunnels are always a solid machine. I don’t know why I enjoy those Red Dirt Devils from the 90s so much but they just are cool machines. Their Hoover counterparts were certainly better, given the fact that they far outlived them but if I see one of those dirt devils I’m picking it up. I find it a little unusual they they did away with the door for the attachments on top. I suppose it’s unnecessary if it securely fits in, but it feels like cheap cost cutting to me.

Oh the 100th Anniversary edition Windtunnel, lovely!!! I have one myself.

Yours is the top of the line model, same as mine, with the dual carpet selectors, dirt finder, and power drive. The lower priced model had just one carpet selector and no power drive. I am not sure if the dirt finder was on it too or they removed it. If yours has the wheels with chrome hubcaps, it was made in the North Canton Hoover factory. Ones with solid black wheels were China made.

Huskyvacs

Ive been using it alot and it really is a good vacuum, the last of the Maytag Hoovers (the real Hoover) before TTI acquired it. Mine has the solid black wheels but it is made in Mexico and not China.

cam2s

Yeah I was thinking the same. The doors always made it more secure, BUT if not careful they break easily. One windtunnel during the maytag run that did not have a door on its tool caddy was the Limited.

Awesome Hoover! As far as it goes for the competitor to that Ultra MVP, the main one would've been the Eureka Excalibur upright. The Ultra MVP came out exactly one year after the Excalibur, basically in response to that top-of-the-line machine.
