I have recently started a restoration of an Electrolux model: 1401/Super J I am trying to find an "exploded view" parts list for this model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off, welcome to the group! You'll find a WEALTH of knowledge among the members here. I see you have yourself a Super J to restore. Good choice! The first vacuum I would call "mine" was a Super J, so those are near and dear to me! I don't have any of the diagrams that you're looking for, but I know someone who just might be able to help you out. His name is Nathan Thomas, and he goes by the name Electrolux-Dude on here. He knows those machines inside and out, and most likely will have any diagram you'd need. Best of luck to you on your restoration, and I hope you enjoy the group, it's a GREAT group of folks!

These are not too difficult to work on. I learned a lot by carefully taking things apart. Keep in mind everything has a way it comes apart in particular and if you are unsure, please ask us so you don’t unnecessarily break something!
I love the Electrolux canisters much like this one and have had too many to list pass through my hands.

I was just vacuuming with my Super J a little while ago. They're wonderful machines. There are also a lot of YouTube videos showing how to work on these machines and beyond cosmetics, any of the metal canisters from the 1205 on forward are essentially the same in the way they come apart and go back together. I would recommend taking digital photos of your machine as you take it apart so you have a reference for putting it back together. Pay especially close attention to the wiring, as in what plugs in where. I was working on a Silverado Deluxe (slightly newer model than the Super J) a couple of years ago and managed to get a couple of wires reversed so that the power nozzle would come on when the vacuum was turned off and vice versa. Took a little time to get that sorted out. Lots of fun.

Still a Newbie, but....
With the help of Terry from www.electrolux.com for supplying the needed parts, I feel confident on my rebuild. Thanks to everyone that helped me. I have tried to upload a photo, but was unable.

The biggest.....
problem with these old Electrolux tanks is that some PO will have sucked up something wet/moist. Typically, as these tanks age, owners devalue their service and do things to them they would not do to a newer vac.
So.....you wind up with a fair amount of rust inside. Depending on you climate and the amount of humidity you have, the damage can be severe.
