That's a Model C-2, made by Interstate in El Segundo, CA between 1950 - 1956. It was made as a Compact brand, which was sold by door to door salesmen, as well as the Revelation brand, which was sold in Vac Shops.

1. Do you have any methods for cleaning the cloth cover over the hose?
2. If you were going to paint would you use epoxy paint?
3. Is the casting aluminum?

Hi Ben
The cloth covered hose can be cleaned with a cloth dipped in a solution of woolite and water, rung out almost dry.
The original paint is hammertone finish, the best way to paint would be a very light spray standing from about 12 inches away. Let the paint rain down as a light mist. This will preserve the 'wrinkles', which is the way it was originally.
The casing is aluminum on yours - later ones would use a combination of magnesium and aluminum forming a compound Interstate Engineering referred to as "magnalite".
