Christmas came early this year! Our old vacuum seized up about a week ago. The carpet won't wait another week and a half, so I got to open my Royal CR5128Z today.
Initial impressions:
This is my first high-end vacuum. Wow, what a difference. This thing is a dirt eraser! One pass forward/back and everything's gone. Dog hair, food bits, the little crud that gets tracked in from outside: GONE. The carpet looks the best it has in years.
My previous vacuum had 3" of fake nozzle. I thought I was vacuuming 12" strips, but it turns out I only got 9" at a time. (My husband is making jokes next to me.) The Royal gets 13" at a shot and is noticeably better both on bare floor and carpets.
Infinite height adjustment is a Good Thing. Nothing against other options, but I'm 100% sold on the precision adjustment of that heavy-duty screw.
The 10A motor sounds like a large shop-vac. I'm fine with that but individual tolerances vary.
I did a bunch of research on this forum prior to purchase. Thanks to the many posters who commented (including positive/negative) on Royal vacuums. I'm a fan!
Hint:
When you put a new Royal together, a couple of chain links like to stay tucked inside bag. We almost ripped the bag trying to make the chain reach before my husband figured that out.
Question:
How far in is the adjust-o-rite button supposed to move? The manual says the height is correct when the button "begins to move inward". That's kind of vague. Should it move a little? All the way down? Most of the way?
