New models from Metropolitan

I was browsing through and I noticed that Metrovac just came out with some new professional models that I thought was interesting. As far as I've been told from them, the only changes that they've gone through are the variable speed dials, the swivel casters, and the colors. Everything else including the performance is still identical to the previous models.

I really like the new color but I prefer the chrome/steel finish on the older models better. I don't really care about the speed dial, I would also prefer the switch on the older models better. And I think the swivel casters is a huge improvement but I still like the looks of the older wheels better but that's just in my opinion.

...much more. Motorcycle dryers, car dryers and livestock dryers to name a few. I had a big livestock dryer once when we showed sheep.....I don't remember the brand....very expensive back in the day.


 


Cool looking retro canister...love the front casters.  Not the end of the world but wonder why they don't have a cord winder? Like to see some specs on how much they pull in inches of water and their CFM.


 


*Update: I found this on the stainless steel professional model listed on Amazon for $620.73; "95" water lift suction power, 130 CFM and 1560 watts."

Cord winder-not favored on vacuums intended for commercial use-they break!and they may not accomadate the LONG cords-35-50ft used on commercial vacuums.

Gets hot quick?

When looking at many reviews by users of these machines it seems Metrovac uses designs and motors that get very hot, very quickly... can nearly burn your finger when touching the steel case. While I like a lot about these vacs, that heat issue would bother me. Not sure if someone has a different experience?

Well to me, having motors that get that hot would be a huge turnoff.....it's no secret that electric motors last longer if they run cool.

It might be made in the USA, but probably of "globally sourced components"? Hence the motor quality if it runs hot?

Yeah, it would be interesting to know 'where' their motors come from.....don't sound like modern Lamb motors, for example.

I got mine a couple years ago, supposedly it's a similar motor as the patriot and miracle mate. They do heat up, but no more than other motors I would say. They are quite loud, not so much the motor itself, but the exhaust. I wonder if the new model uses the same motor. One interesting thing, when you use low speed, the power to the power nozzle is also reduced so the power nozzle does not run as fast. I always use mine on high speed, they are well made machines but because of the loud exhaust, it's not a daily driver for me. The power nozzle that is included is the Dustcare PB-11 which is a nock off of the Eureka express, not the best power nozzle but you can easily pair it up with other power nozzles since the hose end and electrical connection are standard. Again, a good machine but I've never suggested it to anyone.
