Hmm...

I gotta say just looking at it i'm disappointed in them. A single cyclonic system? I feel they really could have done better than that. The primary filter is also hidden away so you know it's gonna be ignored. I mean I get that most consumers want a bagless machine and they may be trying to compete but *shrugs* I really feel they could have done a lot better than this.

Depends on the

price point. if it's high, like other Miele's, it liley won't sell well. A Hepa filter clogs in a few years. Is that life?
It is for new Electrolux's. They've been using two in their cylinders. One in the dirt compartment, one in the bottom under the motor that isn't repelacable.

I am disappointed.

I have always like many others put Miele in a league of their own with their quality which is accessible to consumers but looking at this machine the quality has suffered a great deal. Dyson will and have got he edge over them in this market. I don't think it will do well in Europe and certainly America. I know manufacturers move ahead but the older versions were solid certainly up to the S5.

miele going bagless

Wonder if they will continue the c1, c2 and c3 lines. Miele has always only sold bagged vacuums, I wonder why they decided to make a bagless model, I guess because consumers wanted it. Think I will keep my Miele C1 olympus, very happy with it. Some companies, such as Sebo actually speak against bagless vacuums, wonder if they will ever go bagless, I doubt it, but you never know. For me, I would never want a bagless vacuum from any brand, far too messy to empty.

Yes,

and a heap bag helps the vacuum be more allergy friendly. I doubt Miele will alienate loyal customers who insist on a bagged machine.
That would be like Audi, BMW, or Mercedes not offering a V8 engine.

I'm still amused by the fact that

a lot of 'bagless' customers don't have any clue about the 'filters'. They think, bagless.................. no problem. I've asked, "Do you change the filter"? "There's a FILTER"? Uh, yep.

Then, some people 'dump the bin' into a trash bag, sending dust into the air. They complained about the old cloth shakeout bags. In my neighborhood, people would shake them out in the fields. Others can't seem to be able to empty a simple Convertible bag without a dust problem. Some are never happy, I guess.
Whenever anyone asks me what to buy, I always say, bagged. I just got an old friend to purchase a new Hoover for his new home. I told him his old one was fine. (Elite). He replied, "But I WANT to buy a new one". He'll keep the Elite for the lower lever. Two Hoover cleaners... hm well, it's a start!!

The Miele dealer here told me when he talked to his Miele rep the bagless one won't be available for a few years yet to the US.And Mike and I were talking about the new machine-he questioned about the bagless canister-interesting point-bagless uprights are more popular in the US than bagless canisters.

True, and

uprights are more popular in the USA all around. Many dept. stores do not even carry one canister anymore. Not Target, not Kohl's for example.

Dang, another great bagged company gone bagless. And no power head? BORING!!!

It's not that I "hate" bagless. It's just another step towards doing away with all bagged vacuums. I try to remind myself that everything makes a comeback. I mean didn't we start out bagless and went to bags and now are bagless again (albeit a different type of bagless)? So maybe bags will make a comeback in 20 years.

I wonder how noisy this machine will be? I have never found a noisy Miele and if anyone has one let me know! The older models were all quiet and well sealed. I just Hope they haven't cut cost on sound proofing the machine because it still looks cheap to me production wise. Give me an S5 or a Bluemoon over this any day. I have seen that some of the older models are still going strong after 20 years and more. Will we be able to say the same about this Bagless model?
