New Member and Another Find

Hi everyone! In addition to the NIB Hoover Elite from 1992 I purchase yesrerday, I found this Panasonic Platinum Plus at Goodwill today. I'm not very familiar with Panasonic machines. Was this a good find of a good vacuum? Thanks!

Hello chap and welcome to this forum of mainly vacuum enthusiasts and a handful of keyboard warriors defending vacuum manufactures. Haha!

I have had a couple of Panaosnic vacuums here in the UK. While the oens over here and in Europe you don't get in the states or elsewhere, I found them to be better than average in terms of performance and build quality. They are not terribly expensive either. I can not speak for their bagged machines however. Although, looking at a few videos of this machine, it is apparently a robust, good performing, inexpensive vacuum cleaner. It looks like a typical bagged vacuum of 10 years ago, if it is fair to say that. No frills, no tinsel, does the job and is functional. Something which lacks in a lot of things these days ahah!

Welcome to the forum - there are plenty of members worldwide here, not least U.S and Canada.

The Panasonic uprights in the U.S are substantially different to the ones we get in the UK not least Europe. Panasonic also sell under Kenmore in the U.S/Canada - there are plenty of archive threads in regard to these vacuums.

Our older bagged uprights by Panasonic were previously sold in the U.S/Canada under the Miele "Powerhouse S180" and other uprights, but in the U.S those uprights benefitted from headlights, variable suction and brush roll on/off additions as well as auto cord rewind. Previous models in the UK had some of these features but that was a long time ago.

Panasonic "jet flow" bought the 'patent' from HOOVER... Dial-A-Matic fame.So, those Panasonics originated from HOOVER.

Those versions of Panasonic Uprights are simple powerhouses, and near bullet proof. I have never seen one with any more than a broken belt or worn brush strips.

They are nice machines, pretty simple, easy to live with and tough
