"New" Kirby 510

I thought y'alls would like to see my new pal: A Kirby 510

I found it online earlier this week, and immediately wanted it for the the included attachments if nothing else.

4 hours and $50 later; and it's back at my house.

It runs without and complaint, but there's a couple holes busted in the fan casing. This vacuum must've suffered through the failure of its original metal fan. But fear not, Kirby purists! A factory correct, 6-bladed fan was installed as a replacement!

I'll pick up a new fan case, but does anyone have some advice on moving the serial number plate over?

Well, I've never worked on one of these. But I'll tell you about the number plate on my vintage Cadillac: what I thought were rivets were actually little brass nails. If you knock it down, and look at the inside of the fan case, you'll be able to tell if they're rivets or nails. If they're nails, just pound them out from the back, if rivets, you'll have to carefully drill or grind them out from the outside.

I'd say you're spot on with them being nails. I have a 515 and the plate is *definitely* held on by nails, one of them is popping out a bit.

My biggest concern is putting in new ones. The plate on the replacement fan case is in a totally different location, so I can't just pop new nails in where the old ones used to be.

Advice

Here is best advice don't move the plate. It's original and altering would be greatly depreciating it's value. I notice it's a Canadian version eh. I have 3 510s. If you look at my pic by my name that's my best so far. When working on motor housing put correct screws in. That is how I received one I bought.
The bag is nice. I do envy the bag the one Kirby bag I have not acquired yet. Be careful with the power switch old wires crumble.
The box looks different than my 510 box. I however don't think it's vacuum box I have just attachments.
