new hoover windtunnel

hello all vacuumers,i've recently aquired a Hoover windtunnel upright in burgandy.
it works fine,just one issue.
for some reason,it'll turn on,but not off.
i really want to get this lovely hoover working,so any information of advice you can offer.

From what I've heard, this is a very common problem. The switch on the handle is actually a long a plastic stick that pushes up and down the real switch. I can't think a better word, but it's just a long piece of plastic. The proplem is the real switch is hard to move even with your fingers, so over time the plastic bends. I have yet to find a solution for this for my Windtunnel. I'm thinking wraping masking tape around the end might help.

Is your model the one with a three light dirt finder? That was the first Windtunnel I ever saw; it would be nice to see another one.

yes,it has a lighted dirt finder on it and is self-propelled.

btw,any info on useing a classic 2-cb rug renovator on a kirby heriatge?

This issue! I have encountered this issue on many vacuums, including Hoover Windtunnels and Elites and even some shop vacs that use this same switch system. My solution has always been to glue a dot of hot glue on the end of the switch rod, let it completely set, and then shape it to the rounded shape of the previous surface. This basically gives the end of the rod like 1/4 inch more reach and your problem will be solved!
