New Fantom Fury

I got a fantom fury that is silver yesterday for $20. It was from a response from an ad the I put on CL for fantoms. Well guys, it isn't close to perfect. The dust bin's bottom needs to be re-glued together, there is a small peice broken off the casing for the wand, and the biggest issue is that the front of the bottom plate was completely broken off. Luckily, I put cardboard over the broken peice and taped it with electrical tape and now it is harder to notice. It runs as it should though, cleans just as well as the other "furies". The only other issue is that the headlight does not function anymore, which I think was common on fantoms. I think one of fantomvacuumfan's furies also has this problem? This is the silverish-green model, just like the one fantomvacuumfan has. Well, even though is isn't in the greatest shape, I think $20 isn't that bad considering that fantoms are getting harder and harder to find. I'm very proud to have saved this one, as I think it wasn't taken care of very well with the old owner. Will post pics soon, also found a functional eureka superbroom in the trash up the street. So, do you guys think $20 was a good deal? -Mitchell

Not trying to be critical of you in the slightest, just letting you know, that Fury model is actually a very light green. Very nice find. I still love you Fantom Fury Limited Edition. I doubt you ever will, but if you ever decide to sell it, please let me know, ok?

I have a question for you about the lightening. I love mine but everytime I use it the metal filter is always COVERED in thick dirt (sometimes as much as in the container itself) why is this? Do I need a new seal or is this normal?

Thanks for all the input!! I'm not sure why the metal filter is dirty, maybe the hepa filter needs replacing, or, you are just picking up alot of dirt!!!

The Dual Cyclones should be easily be able to keep fine powder and dust, including things like Capture off the SS mesh filter. If you're finding high amounts of dust on it like you say you are, then you're most likely missing a seal or have a damaged seal in the canister.

The belts and lightbulbs are generic, but other parts can be harder to find. Attachments for the fury and thunder are pretty easy to find, they show up on ebay all the time. Other parts are pretty rare. I'm trying to get ahold of an original fantom from a vac shop near me. It's missing some parts but I should be able to find at least the hood in the pile of vacuum parts they have there.

I think I may have an extra bin for a fantom lightning if you need it, the mesh filter should stay very clean if everything is working correctly.

I have a question. Would you ever consider a trade for your Fantom Fury LE? Just wondering. I might be willing to trade one of my Fantoms for it. I would even consider the my original Fantom.
