New eco vacuums

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Here's another stick vac I got about three years ago, it has since be relaunch by Hoover in the same brown/bronze colour as the current UK Turbopower range. I have one it that colour too but I never took a picture before I stuffed it in storage.

I like the Polisher pad just like the Hooverette

Some of these ratings are very interesting, especially the total emmisions rating. G on some of those Hoover cleaners. They must be throwing quite a bit of dust out to get a rating like that.

Yes Chris, I would avoid any cleaner with a G rating for emissions if I had any respiratory problems. Most of the Hoovers have very mediocre performance, something I have learned first hand today with my new unfortunately named Hoover Eco G. I think the G stands for Globe, but after using it, it could be its average performance rating. It's nice to use, but very noisy and very poor on hard floors with an average pick up on carpet.

I'm glad the rating system is being introduced because it makes it easy to compare different models.
I personally will not buy a new cleaner unless it's A rated in most tests. I don't mind a B or C for energy use, but I would want A for pick up on carpets and floors.

Those ratings on pick up performance...

...Are really of little help. Yes but we all know that even if a cylinder vac gets a poorer rating for carpet cleaning, it will improve if we fit a turbo brush to it after purchasing.

For example, where Hoover's stick vac is concerned, if it uses a standard and removable 32mm fitting, what's to stop you from using a generic 32mm turbo brush floor head? Suddenly pick up has improved!

In short, there's very little point in collectors believing in the ratings, or anyone else who may have generic tools leftover that can substantially improve the performance from the vacuum cleaner sold.

I think this new rating system is interesting and will likely come in handy for consumers. And it appears that Hoover UK has some work to do!
Roger, (if I may call you Roger), will you be doing a video on this horrid Hoover?
Thanks
Scott
