Just a thought:

Perhaps people seeing such a low starting point might make them think it's a problem machine.  I've never sold on ebay , yet.  I've bought, though.  When I DO sell,  I think I might START the bidding at  $20.00   not a LOT for a vac.  My closest friend, Tom (A.) always does this, with very good results.

Again,  it's just a thought.  I hope you sell your machines and get a fair price for them.

I always start my auctions with my "lucky number," $1.37, and it generally has served me well. I used to list things at higher opening amounts and sometimes with a hidden reserve "to cover what I have invested in the machine." I've found that both tactics -- especially the hidden reserve -- tend to discourage bidders.

On a related note, I seem to have suddenly run into a patch of eBay flakes. I won't say anymore about that since they may be members here ... "You know who you are."

There are some great machines here.

The problem for me is I already have them, and while in the ones shown here are in perfect condition, I'm on a fixed income, so updates are not posible. The best I can do is restore the ones I've got. [this post was last edited: 8/27/2016-15:57]

Experienced ebay buyers will wait ...

'til just before the auction ends, perhaps even using an automatic sniper to come in with a max bid at 3 seconds prior to auction end). Note the time of the final bid on your Kirby:

This guy's good! lol

Note also this was his only bid.

There are many theories on listing. One general method of trying to take advantage of the many suggestions is to run a 10-day auction that covers 2 weekends, ending on Sunday night.

And if you fear letting something go for less than you've invested in it (and will invest packaging it up for safe transit), put a reserve on it. It only cost pennies to do so.

Cheers!

I had to start doing snipe bids because I wasn't winning anything and don't have time to watch the listings. Besides if you don't snipe, ebay's auto bid service is too slow to compete with snipe bidders. In some popular hobbies, you'll never win anything unless you snipe.
