Meet my newest acquisition, the Domestic Rotary 153

I have it nearly restored to perfect or near perfect working order. Got it to sew properly yesterday. I just need to take a look in the motor and replace the tire on the bobbin winder, maybe wax the cabinet. When I first got it, everything was gummed up and encased in a thick layer of dirt.

I'm not really into sewing machines but that one's got a nice classic industrial look. I've got an old Singer in my storage unit that's in great condition. It's an old treadle operated model that someone apparently pulled out of its table/cabinet in order to repurpose the piece of furniture, which is really quite unfortunate. I'd love to find it a home with someone who loves and appreciates it for what it is. Not sure about shipping it, though. That mutha is HEAVY!

ahhh......

an old White Rotary. They were badged as White Rotary, Domestic Rotary, and were Kenmore in the 30's and 40's.

I like these machines ok, they are good for basic straight stich work, and simple projects. But obviously even then, better then anything made now. I just personally don't care for the presser foot, presser bar set up on these. But that is just personal opinion.

When I worked

In a Vacuum and sewing store, these were one of my favorites, Great machines, Another good one was New Homes and Free Westinghouses, the very WORST were the Singers after about 68 or 70 with plastic gears...JUNK!!!!
