Possibly a bit premature but I'm so excited!

We get the keys to our new house tomorrow, and at the bottom of the garden is...

From House!

My new vacuum workshop! Long way to go yet but I'm planning it out in my head. Just need to keep the gardening and car cleaning stuff out of it first!

Will update with progress etc!

Very nice.

Very nice mr Sam. I hope it all goes to plan. I assume you would get electric hooked up to your new hide out

I like that nice, long sidewalk for rolling a Hoover along on its back wheels all the way down to the shop....

I'd be careful about storing your tools in a garden shed - mine got burgled a while back, and with the current economic climate and welfare reforms in this country, with people losing their benefits left right and centre, thefts from sheds will be on the increase, especially on council estates.

The tools will hopefully go in the big internal cupboard in the porch, keeping the shed just for VAC stuff.

In other news, this ain't happening for a while anyway! Shed is rotten to the core, but being replaced soon apparently, so happy days!

It was full of new and hardly used garden tools though, which are ours now apparently as the previous people left them!

I take it that the landlord will be paying for a new shed then?

Nice carpet - at least its presentable and clean.

Eva looks distinctly unimpressed with the shed - hoe hoe hoe!

Mr Murray - long time no hear - where have you been?

The forums have been distinctly devoid of chat about Hoover Rangers for ages!

Hi Steve, yes it has been a while since I have been posting regularly on here but things have been very busy. We've moved house last week and before that I was too busy with work to get a moment to myself, let alone browse the internet.

Now that we're in a permanent house (the last one was temporary) the pressure is off and now, although I will still be working full time, I can hopefully peruse the forums for at least an hour or so in the evenings.

I must say, it is good to be back! Unfortunately we haven't had any carpets fitted yet so the Senior Ranger is sitting upstairs unused. It goes without saying that that is irritating me greatly!

Workshop!

Well, last thursday a shed got delivered! Myself and a mate put it up over the weekend!

From House!

It's a cheap, cheap shed! Not square at all, much of the wood is warpet but we got it as level as we could, and its now very square, which has pulled some bits about inside. Was a bit rickity, but hopefully I can dial that out!

I was hoping for bigger!

From House!

I started off with a bench out of thick plywood

From House!

It's quite low, but I can sit with my legs underneath it.

From House!

The floor was comically flimsy,so I found a big bit of chipboard

From House!

Few screws to stop it moving about

From House!

Some carpet tiles...

From House!

From House!

Notched out the workbench

From House!

After working on a carpet tile at my mums in the garage a carpeted bench was a requirement! Dropped bits dont bounce and roll, and the machines dont get scratched!

From House!

I recycled an old bookcase into storage shelves

From House!

Measured to fit a black box on each shelf

From House!

I then did the important task of mounting the monitor

From House!

Gave it a test run with the laptop

Built a little shelving unit to hold some of my bags

From House!

From House!

Finished cuttingthe tiles for the bench

From House!

Put the first of little shelves up

From House!

This space will hold wands, poles and other long stuff

From House!

Eva gave it a trial run

From House!

From House!

From House!

Gave it all a good vac out with the Miele

Eva strength tested the bench (it would hold my weight, but the shed wouldnt...)

From House!

Sort of building as I go at the moment. Got enough space to bring back my bags, wands, spare parts and other tat. I'll need more shelves, will potter with them tomorrow.

Waiting for some armoured cable a mate ight be able to wangle me, things will be easier then!

Its very nice and compact - but I'd really worry about it being burgled - I've got exactly the same shed, and its been ransacked twice now. Might you rig up some sort of security camera on the main house to point to the shed?

Just be careful - it doesn't matter where you live, there are thieves and desperate people who cant get any welfare payments, due to the governments welfare cuts, especially on council estates.
