My "new" Hoover Spirit canister vac

I don't admit to being a vacuum collector yet, but I will buy one when a decent machine comes along at a low price. I was at the DI store a few days ago, and spotted a Hoover Spirit up for adoption along with its Quadraflex Powermatic floor attachment and electric hose. This one had a price tag of $8 so I took it over to the power outlet, plugged it in and it worked like a champ. I brought it home with me.

This one has a model number of S3261-022 and takes the K bag. It's a little dirty from storage over the years, but it looks like it's fairly low mileage. I didn't get any of the small attachments with it (like the crevice tool, etc.). Later, I did find a package of new K bags for it at the St. Vincent de Paul for 99 cents.

I'm not sure as to the vintage of this machine, but is the 1980's a good guess?

The secondary filter (motor filter) could use a change.

Get out the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and start erasering all the old grime off LOL... You can usually find no-name magic erasers at dollar stores cheaper than Mr. Clean.

Those aren't half bad little vacuums if not a little noisy but thorough, certainly worth the $8.

Love the white or beige colour!

I really wish the vac-makers would bring back the whites and beiges of the 1960's and 1970's. The black machines and black attachments that have become so common in the last 2 decades look really bad after dust starts to accumulate on them. And I find some of the black attachments (like my old Eureka Mighty Mite II's dusting brush) actually make black crayon-like marks on anything white if you scratch something with the black part of the tool. I don't mind the "dusty-grey" of the Kenmores and related Panasonics since the colour matches household dust so well, and therefore hides how drity they actually are really well.
