Hi all,

Here's my latest find, purchased from ebay for £32. Not bad if you ask me! Everything is original on it, it even has it's original brown plug. Overall it's in good shape, the hose has seen better days though.

Now, I've been wondering, how long did Numatic make the cream and brown Henry for? I thought it was 1985 until 1990, but the serial code on this says it's from 1991.

Thanks

~ Joe

Brilliant! If you put the hose in the washing machine with some old towels it cleans it up a treat (coolish wash though, don't spin it too much).

Flush the hose through first so you don't block the machine though

Awesome Henry! I find that henry to e quite a collection piece, were there 90 made? because there is a video on Youtube where stupidsheep883 says there were 90 made and its rarer than a DC02 DAS
Well done on the find :D Enjoy, and nice Dc08 in the background :P blue!!!

Thanks Sam! I'll have to give that a go.

Tayyab, I believe they were made from 1985 to 1991. Yes, they are quite rare.

Thanks! Ah yes, saved that DC08 from the tip, needs some new carbon brushes.

Thanks Dave! I am considering picking up some horns on ebay for him.

I've seen before that someone said only 90 of the cream & brown Henry's were made. To be honest I've never believed it, it was listed in the catalogues & wasn't a special order model (as far as I know) so I can't imagine there would only be 90 made, that would constitute a really low production run.
It's definitely far less common than the red & black but where does a figure of just 90 made come from?
Cool cream & brown though (I have one myself & they're lovely).
Cheers
Dave

Beige/brown was definitely not a limited edition, just another colour choice at the time (much like the later blue, yellow and green options). How easy the alternative colours were to get hold of depended on the dealer, though. Some would offer the full range, others saw no point and would just keep the default red/black model in stock, maybe special ordering a particular colour for those who specifically requested such.

Used to see the beige/brown models everywhere back in the day, so they were by no means rare at the time. Not quite as popular as red/black of course, but still fairly common.

The reason they're rare now is because they were only made for a few years, and that was some 20 odd years ago. Red, on the other hand, has always been the default Henry colour. It was available from day one of production, through to present times, so it stands to reason there will be more around of varying ages.

Back in the day though, they really weren't too unusual. For example, at the time my local garden centre had an entire fleet of beige/brown Henrys, and each time I visited they would be dotted around all over the place. Red was still most common, but seeing a beige one would have been about as unusual as seeing a blue, yellow or green one today... not something that would particularly take one by surprise and cause you to take a second look.
