As everyone is different,and we all have individual likes and dislikes,Ithought thru my pictures you might see what I like,mostly canisters,tanks too, but not nearly as much,I have a bunch of E luxes,but the only one I use is a tan G and own NOTHING newer than the 70s, for an upright my 801 Royal is my favorite,pn1 Lux powernozzle is my favorite,now you may ask, what on earth do you vacuum with as a daily driver,well,the green G E canister gets a lot of use ,The Chrome Royal tank and for quick pickups I use the Royal 801,also for heavy cleaning I use a Filter Queen33 from 1967,The Silver Knight is very convienent for dusting ETC because of the long hose and swivel top,what will I absolutely NOT use.....New Plastic!!! examples...any Dyson,New Hoovers Eurekas,New Kirbys,New Electroluxes,and ANYTHING with a @#$% pistol grip,I dont cook on a new stove, wash in a new washer or store food in a new fridge,so im sure not going to vacuum with a new vac,to each his own, but these are my likes and dislikes....how about everyone giving there opinion on what they like and dislike.

Most of my collection is from the 70's back too, and I don't like pistol grips, loop handles, or plastic either. My favorite upright is an Electro-Hygiene 903, and my favorite tank is a tie between Electro-Hygiene 950 and 966, Royalaire 260, or Lux G. Favorite cannisters are a tie between Filter Queen 350, Hoover Constellations, Westinghouse SC1, and GE Swiveltop VIIC3. In fact, one of the select few newer machines I have is a new Connie, and I am still amazed at how powerful and well built it is for a machine only a few years old. Too bad they only made them for two years and didn't advertise them very well. I believe they could have been a great seller if they had received the publicity they deserved.

I had a chance to try the new Connie when I went to "you know where" for "you know what" ... the machine IS very powerful, but the thing that I found aggravating about it was that the hose was too short -- yes, I know, it's an expanding hose, but the thing is, it took a pretty good tug on the hose to pull it out to its length -- you'd pull the machine toward you before the hose would expand. So it seemed like the canister was aiways trailing right behind me, nipping at my feet like a playful puppy. I think it would have been more successful with a standard-type hose, or one that more easily expanded.
