Hi, I thought I would post a short Thread about my Dyson DC04 De Stijl. I really like it, especially because it's a clutched upright which really suits me as nearly all of the ground floor in my house it tiled. I will go into more detail in a video I'll make on my YouTube channel (TomVacuum). One more thing, I have it's box (see in pics) is it rare?

Its certainly rare to have the box, yes. Shame about the wand, nice ones of those are getting scarce.

Actually, we have just started building a DC04 De Stijl to hang onto for the future, as we did a while ago with a DC01. Photo attached of where it is up to today. Build documented in the link.

What I do need if anyone has one, is a red and purple stair tool in good condition. If anyone has one, do let me know and I'll either buy it from you or swap you something Dyson that you need.

One quick question what do you think the Dyson DC 41 and the dc39 And do you get many of them for Repair

My 2 DeStijl Dc04s

One of mine is mint and really superb, it took several months of looking on Ebay to find a brand new stair tool in red and purple. it was in a job lot.

My other dc04 De Stijl could do with a refurb. Ideally a new cyclone carry handle and clear bin for a start. I may sell this one.

Dysonboy, we get a lot of the DC41's in for repair, and to be honest, I think they are dreadful. The cleanerheads use the same motor as the DC25, but they have a design fault in that the middle wheel comes out, the housing wears and the head glues itself to the floor. The only remedy is a new cleaner head or service assembly. We have refurbed some DC41's as well, and the build quality is terrible. Its built in obsolescence all the way. DC39's not seen too many yet but I gather they have an issue with the steering mechanism. The later stuff doesnt impress me much to be honest.

Tom, great video! I'll post it up on the topic on our site if I may.

As it goes, before I saw your video, I just bought a job lot of stuff on eBay I didn't really want only to get the tool I did want. Isn't it always the way? I'd still like to have that one of your though if you don't need it? Is there anything you need for a Dyson in exchange we might have?

Like I said these were only problems in the old 2011 and 2012 models

dysonb0y,

Don't ask for an opinion if you refuse to accept another persons view on a product. You keep posting these stupid videos of Dysons being tested! Yes we've seen them before many times!

Just accept that the latest Dysons are not perfect machines. Not even the DC25 which I love!

Manchestervacs obviously knows what he/she is talking about and had provided you with a response as you requested.

Again, those videos mean nothing. Previously it showed a DC24 being tested and I've had nothing but problems with it. Dyson defend with the same blurb like you do that their machines are made of ABS and Polycarbonate to be tough and durable, blah blah.

The real test is to ask a user of a DC41 etc the same question in 5 years time and see how they get on in their home!! Some people will have nothing but joy and reliability with their machine and some others may have nothing but problems. That's the way things are.

I never did refuses there opinion I just said the problems they've been having with them was fixed in 2013.the DC24 was tested but did you see it being tested the same as the DC 41 no it wasn't

Blakage, I'm glad you're not caught in Dyson's hype. You're correct that those videos are worthless, those Dysons will never survive household use.

Dysons have been trash since the DC06. I don't care if those problems were 'fixed' (and by fixed I mean redesigned, there's no fixing in the Dyson world) in 1981 or 2011, the design was terrible before and after said 'fix'.

Yes dys0nboy,

That's my point. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and someone gave you theirs.

You point about Dyson not showing a DC24 means nothing. You expect Dyson to show every single Dyson being bashed about? So that means every other Dyson is sub standard. I don't think so. All Dysons should be tested the same way. I've yet to see a DC50, DC54 Cinetic etc on all those videos.

Lastly, I would like to point out a DC24 was on one if Dysons testing videos. I suggest you have a look on YouTube again and I can see a DC24 amongst the rest in the testing facility. The real user test for me was in my own home.

Super-sweeper,

I've had Dysons since 1999 and used most of them, owned quite a few over the years (which maybe why Dyson gave me a DC35 after all my issues).

I still prefer the feel of previous machines such as the DC14, 15, 25 etc. I don't like the flexible feel of the latest ball machines, but Dyson claim these are just as tough. I'd love to see this after a few years when the machines have been in heat, bashed about, exposed to some sun light etc. Dyson may prove me wrong.

Vax machines in the UK seem to be of good value for money and I quite like SEBO & Miele.
