Without really trying, I ran across a few more vintage Hoover cleaners. I was at the local Restore which supports Habitat for Humanity and found a nice but dirty Hoover Convertible model 1010 from about 1967 and a nice but dirty model U4109 with a top fill bag. Both were very reasonable and had metal bases. The 1969 model 1140 DAM came from a vac shop here in town. I stopped on my way home after Restore. He had this machine given to him. A lady came by and said she did not use it anymore would he want it. Of course he took it off of her hands. It is beautiful and is now in the hands of a former Hoover engineer who has several nice pieces of Hoover history. He had been looking for a nice DAM for awhile and now has one. I just dusted it off and put in a new belt and bag and like any old Hoover, it sprang to life. Hope you enjoy the photo!

Nice indeed, I like the blue except for it doesn't really go well with brown. Somebody at Hoover must have had a penchant for brown. Well actually a lot of 60's 70's stuff was brown and something.. lol

green/brown

pete, i used to think the SAME thing. when i first saw the model 1070 (same colors as the DAM above) i thought it was a mish mash of parts. i love the combo now. i do think its a very contemporary combination.

Love those colors!

I have two rooms in my house painted in marine blue, spring green, and seal griege light and medium.

This is to funny, I have the model 1140 DAM and after seeing the postings this morning I decided that I would use it today for my weekly clean. I love the color combination, have always thought of it as a turquoise. It really does a great job!
