So, mom has been gone now for 5 months, have kept some of her things, but 625 sq ft only fits so much! There is a spare bedroom, but done using it only as storage, garage space would like to see usable again, or not trip worthy anyway. I offered some furniture when she died to the almost son who was buying a house. His youngest is here often, Kirby, records, ect. They did not have room for mom's Lazy Boy, maroon mild pattern cloth. I have a smaller maroon leather one, a year or two older, thought maybe give it another look before her's is gone, as she only had it maybe 8 months? Had folks that wanted it, but they trash their stuff and that would Piss!! mom off big time, clean freak like me. So against my lower back's idea I took her chair apart and drug it inside to trade for mine, looks fine?? I think anyway, bit bigger and higher chair. For the moment the old chair is in the spare room, a bit big, but figure why not be sure I am keeping the best chair for me??? Just my 2 cents for the day folks. I rubbed some dryer sheets on the chair after a good vacuuming again, still smells like mom's perfume!

Sorry for your loss. I hope you have many great memories to bring you comfort.

I kept my dad's recliner after he died until it just finally gave out.

Mom started making me clean and go thru everything in the house a year before she passed...she knew...I did too, but didn't want to face it and it was very hard.

She had everything written down about everything including the music she wanted played when her ashes were scattered in an sealed envelope with my name on it to open after she died.

Thanks. It's been months, just thought the chair would be gone by now and they did not take it. Figured one more try to be sure!

You're doing the right thing by taking it for a test drive. Keep whichever one feels better to you. I'm dealing with my parents' stuff also. They're both still living but they're downsizing from a three-story house to a three-bedroom apartment at a retirement facility. And if you look up 'hoarder' in the dictionary, you'll likely find my dad's picture in the margin.
