Is there a way to turn off the mobile site permanently? I check the website on my phone a lot and have to turn it off several times a day.

Yes please. I have the same problem on my Blackberry Z10. It's annoying.
There isn't actually, but I will look into changing that when I can.

OK I made a change that I believe will keep your mobile site on/off setting either turned on or turned off.
It will set a cookie that will remember the settings for year. If you device doesn't support cookies that last between sessions than this will not work, and you will have to re-select turn off mobile manually.
I only have a iPhone to test to test and it works fine there.
