Now that the warehouse is empty I was moving some boxes of magazines and turning a few pages when I see a 2/3 page article with 2 pictures in Business Week of Jan 20,1945 on the first housewares show since 42. Due to wartime govt rules there was no display of new products developed during the war and no one knew then when appliance sales would resume.
It was stated that "the Franklin-Mcallister Corp.,Chicago showed its prewar bagless vacuum cleaner,with full size photos of its postwar model".
The Electrikbroom was being revived for the expected postwar trend to lighter vacs.The article states "Electrikbroom dates back about a decade.It was originally manufactured for R.N.Small,but never was promoted to aggressively,and has been practically off the market since 1939.Regina Corp.,Rahway,N.J. purchased it several months ago,and plans extensive promotion of it after the war."It was said to be 6 1/2 pounds and to do 80% of the work of a standard model.The price was to be $39.50 with 8 accessories for $8.00.The b/w picture of the Electrikbroom looks as if the motor housing is polished or plated.
