In 1961, we moved into a house that had hardwood floors in some areas of the house. My mother mentioned to a 2nd cousin that she would need to buy a tank (canister) to use on these floors. At the time, she had a Kenmore upright but it would't do the job on the hard wood floors. The cousin gave Mom a used Magic-Aire that had been purchased right after WWII. It was just as you described.

I have been told that GE produced the Magic-Aire for the door-to-door trade to complete with Electrolux and other brands sold in the same manner. I would guess that yours is probably from the post WWII period. If you look at some of the GE ads for their tank from the same period, you will see that the GE attachments are identical to what came with the Magic-Aire.

When you are able, it would be fun to see pictures. These are extremely rare and hard to find machines. Other than the one that Mom had, I have never come across another one.

Nice addition to any collection

Bob
