Unfortunately, my super friendly Kirby shop near me only carries the newer belt also.
Sure it physically fits all machines but the thinner belt sure does have its places.
It will prolong the life of sleeve bearing brushrolls, help prevent the plastic belt lifters from breaking, and be friendlier to people with arthritis in their hands.
I restored my mom's D50 for Christmas and despite it having a ball bearing newer brushroll, I put on the thinner belt so she could actually turn the belt lifter. Even with that belt she still has to use both hands. I spun it around like a toy with one hand.
