Just a comment, the hose that came with the upright ProLuxes, etc., LOOKS similar to this hose but is not the same. They're not as long, are made of flimsier material, and the pistol grip is all plastic instead of plastic and chromed steel.
This particular hose is a mystery to me. I really don't know when or why it was manufactured, except possibly as a replacement for older machines when they stopped using woven hoses (starting with the Renaissance I believe).
