Lux Guardian upright

I've heard that the newer lux uprights had a stronger motor in them. While I could hear a clear difference compared to older models such as the 3500sr in videos. I thought it would be a good idea to get my hands on one to see for myself how much stronger they are.

I'm impressed. It actually is close in power to my Legacy upright which was given a Numatic motor (5.7"). With the guardian returning to it's classic "slim" profile and having what is most likely a 4.3" motor it's specs are impressive while also using less electricity than my Legacy model which uses a strangely high amount of electricity compared to Numatic vacuums.
For comparison I re-measured my Legacy I also found it odd that the numatic motor consumed so much electricity in that machine.

It also appears that the guardian may be better sealed it has a gasket below the bag which is something I've not seen on one of these before. I'd imagine the head is better sealed as well considering the guardian had more sealed suction at the nozzle despite the legacy having more hose suction.

I have trouble visualizing how these machines operate. Is the following correct?

The suction motor is located in the bottom of the upper part under the bag compartment and when the motor is on, the airflow is pulled from the nozzle, thru the hose connecting the nozzle to the upper part of the unit, thru the side of the upper unit, around the "curve" at the top of the hinged door, and thru the bag. Correct or no?

Yes, that is correct.

They also have two motors. One for brushroll and the other for suction.

It's essentially an old style Electrolux tank and OmniFlow power nozzle, joined together to form one kick-ass upright machine.

Devin, those are pretty impressive numbers for this type of vacuum, was wondering if you'd get to doing tests on it.

Do you know by chance if their latest upright (in photo below) would have similar results?

Has either the suction or brushroll motors changed in the latest model? I have heard that they are a bit quieter..

Hmm

I don't know based, off my comparison to the legacy it should be pretty similar in performance to my Legacy upright. So I kind of don't feel testing is necessary when I have an idea of where it stands.

I think the current model is the same as the guardian upright aside from a few color changes. Perhaps a dealer could confirm that for us.

I don't think they're quieter than like the old 3500 but they're definitely stronger. Perhaps it would be a little quieter if I had the hepa filter, it looks as though someone may have torn it, along with the retainer for it to snap onto, off

Suction motor

I've had my suspicions that this used a single stage motor. The sound of it made me wonder, but then I noticed there was a fairly large gap between the bag chamber and the fan housing with a fair amount of seal in between. So I opened it up and confirmed this.

Just thought I'd share this new information.
