Lost my love for Kirby...

As my bursitis, arthritis, and stenosis have progressed a bit further, I find a Kirby simply too difficult to use, to heavy to carry form floor to floor, and too much bother to put into its various configurations. I have retired from professional cleaning (except for one client, and that ends at the end of this year) I gave them my Ultimate G, so as not to have to bring it each time I clean, and am looking for a home for my G4. Does anybody here want it? I have the shampooer and most of the tools.

I have carpet in the upstairs, but am seldom up there. I am going to put carpet tile throughout the downstairs. I need an easy to use canister. I am thinking about the Miele Jasper with the Air-Tech tool. Don't really need a power nozzle, I don't think anyway.

Maybe a Royal would be easier to manage with similar cleaning abilities and lighter weight.

This doesn't change the fact that the Kirby is a great vacuum, it just means it's no longer appropriate for you...

Are you giving the G4 away or selling it? I'm not personally interested because I have a Sentria and a G5, but it just wasn't clear so I wanted to ask )

What are you going to be using instead?

The G4 is free to anyone who wants it...

recipient pays shipping, of course. Also included is a Keeler Bagless conversion and a 12 foot hose.

I'm not an invalid, by any means, just needing to use something more appropriate. If I stay with an upright, it will be a Lindhaus. I am considering a Miele S6 Jasper with the Airtech tool. My carpet will be all low pile carpet tile, except for the low shag upstairs. (see, keep anything long enough and it comes back in style.) Or a Nilfisk canister

Sorry to hear of your health concerns. My mother was in the cleaning profession as well. Though I don't think it contributed to her health, I was touched by how she seemed to age over the 8 years I was over on the East coast. But that was her. I hope your health holds up and you are well for a long time.

I'm not I. The market for a G4, but I could use the hose if it fits on a G5 and if you're amenable to breaking it up. If that's doable, please let me know.

How do you find those Nilfisk canisters? I have one that I haven't had time to use, yet. Can't remember the model, but it was shaped like a cube and had a hepa filter. No PN, just a combination straight suction floor/rug tool at the end.

Let me think about ...

breaking up the set. I think would be easier to find a home for it as a set. But if no one comes forward wanting it, I'd consider send just the tools. Did you want the shampooer, too?

It is such a shame when those that once loved get divorced. One was always heavy, and the other just can't take the weight any longer and begins looking for a smaller younger version to love.

So sad, at least you are seeing that your former loved one has a good home and didn't just toss her to the street.

I share Trebor's sentiment....

But for a completely different reason. I've pretty much seen it all in terms of post-war Kirbys. I have yet to encounter an all-original prewar (or early) postwar Kirby on the internet at a FAIR price. Ebay has done alot to inflate the value of these machines. IMHO Classics, Omegas, G-series etc. are becoming (pun intended) as common as dirt. Unless I find one in the trash, or at the flea market super cheap I'm devoting more of my efforts to collecting other types of vintage vacs.
