Looking for info on Montgomery Ward Vac

dear LORD ! circa 1960s or early 1970s is my estimate based on the cheap 1 hp motors. (That was the best they could do? Yes back then it was.)
Also had a childhood friend in the 70s whos father had a typical sized shop vac in their basement and the top was the same color, graphics, and other details.
It also had a metal waste drum that was at most 15 gallons.
That tacky 55 gallon container does not bespeak practical.
It says hello 1960s lets bury some really awful toxic waste in an unlined landfill that will leak and cause the Love Canal tragedy of the late 1970s.
I wouldn't keep something like this unless you know for a fact what it was used with.
It could have been used for toxic materials in which case it's contaminated.
But it's an interesting shop vac beast.....that should be sent to the metal scrap bin.

Rare early shop vac from department store Montgomery Wards. Not sure where all the paranoia about "toxic waste" comes from. Vacuum is in great shape. So easily these rust out.

Yes, if you vacuum up anything wet or even damp with these
and don't clean it out after each use AND let it completely dry
it will turn into a rusty mess. Frankly, even if you DO clean them out appropriately they will still rust.

Not sure what all the toxic weird ideas are that are being posted but.
That vacuum you show is a craftsman rebadge, I collect these too and nearly bought a similar one. The one you posted was intended for dust collection craftsman made alot of vacs with the 2 motors for dust collection. Very very nice find!!!
I have a few like that that use a fiber drum!

Interesting, I didn't know Craftsman had dual motored ones too.
Not actually a Craftsman rebadge, as Craftsman stuff is just rebadged, they don't make anything. So likely just another company making it for both Craftsman (Sears) and Montgomery Ward.
