Looking for a new toy (Something just for fun)

Ok, so I am stuck between 2 things. First off let me just say that I am looking for a machine that would just be fun to have and not really use as a daily driver. I am in the US but I am considering a Numatic Henry, or a Windsor Sensor XP12....

Really want to try both so I have no idea which one to buy. What would you guys rather have to play around with? Let me know please!

My reply is even odder...

Well it depends on what you want and what kind of carpets your home has. These vacuums are not the same other than being commercially based and designed. If it was me and knowing that there are PLENTY of Windsor vacs in the U.S and on account that they are an exclusive brand for the U.S, I'd go for the Numatic.

Instead of the XP12, the Sensor S model with manual height adjustment might be better if you have thicker carpets.

As far as I know although Numatic Henry vacs maybe available through a handful of sellers in the U.S, better to go for a Numatic if you want a rarer choice - or before the U.S becomes awash with Numatic vacs.

Dont get me wrong - as I said above - whilst SEBO uprights and Windsor are commonplace in the U.S, Numatic isn't and as such its a general all round canister vac with a huge bag capacity and even if you don't use it as a daily driver, either vacuum would suit the bill as an occasional use.

The plus with Numatic is that it has a 32mm generic universal fitting, so you could use any same sized tools from other vacuums. SEBO fittings are 36mm and using other tools from other brands can be trickier.

Have you thought about something that was produced in your birth year?  Your profile says 1999, Hoover Windtunnel canisters and uprights were still in their beginning stages at that time and are reliable, very good performers. 


 


It would be interesting to find some store catalogs and find out models Riccar, Simplicity, Miele, Aerus/Electrolux were all producing that year!

Are very interesting! I am considering the Numatic, but I am also interested by your idea Durango159. Finding a machine from around the time I was born would be very nostalgic. I would probably go with a Windtunnel Canister because when I was younger those seemed to intrigue me the most.

I will keep you updated on if I find anything.

If you want a new toy, you should buy a funky new Sebo Felix. It is not a bad carpet cleaner, and is one of the most unique vacuums on the North American market. You can even choose which funky colour scheme you like! And with an array of Sebo attachments, it's quite versatile! You can even get a cool floor polisher head to buff your lovely hard-wood floors.

Another toy I recommend: the Swiffer Sweeper Vac. It is the most convenient and effective cordless bare floor cleaner around and only costs about $45!

I am having a tough time deciding guys! You are getting me to want all of the machines mentioned in this thread

The numatic is really calling my name I think, but the cheapest one in the US that I could find was $300, you guys have any recommendations as to where I should get mine?

While I was here I didn't want to make a whole new thread about this, sorry for going off topic here. But, what does anybody know about the Rubbermaid Sebo look-alike that I linked below? It seems to look nice but I could not find a single video of it online to see how it performed. Any info is greatly appreciated

A major convenience store in my area, uses Rubbermaid Ultra Lite vacs which are posted below in the links. Zippers on the bags are always broken and the machines are always disgustingly covered in dust- similar to what a lot of bagless Eureka and Bissell uprights look up. I've seen this at several locations of the well known convenience store in this area- Sheetz.

As far as Windtunnel canister, I think that's a fantastic idea!! They are great machines and certainly much more common in the U.S. than the Numatic. The power nozzle on the Hoover will be significantly more powerful to that of the Numatic if you can even find a Numatic with a power nozzle in the U.S.!!

The first Hoover Windtunnel canisters to enter the market were the green Hoover Windtunnel S3630 and black Ultra S3655. Later the green was more or less replaced by the translucent blue S3639 Windtunnel Plus which was the last great bagged canister vacuum made by Hoover!!! The Turbo Power line presented the Turbo Power 7000 S3646 and S3646-900- which includes the mini turbine nozzle. Also the Windtunnel Turbo Power 7500 which was representative of the Windtunnel Ultra S3655 which later got replaced by a significantly harder to find translucent green Windtunnel Ultra S3661.

Additionally Lowes Hardware stores had a Windtunnel canister exclusive to them similar to what Kmart had done for years with the Runabout name. The Lowe's exclusive line consisted of a few sparkling glitter like silver colored machines and were branded the Preferred line. There are a couple of Hoover Windtunnel Preferred currently on eBay and the model number for that one is S3641. Like the Windtunnel Plus S3639 the Windtunnel Preferred S3641 has a mini turbine nozzle packaged onboard in the tool lid.

Here's a sad looking but fixable Hoover Preferred listing on eBay. You can see from the photos that the user didn't know how to properly install the bag on this unit!! Sadly a common find, why it's so hard to follow the arrows on the bag and push the cardboard all of the way forward is beyond me!!!

VUL12 12" is a TTI product..

Ahh I wondered where I had seen that Rubbermaid upright before..

Its a re-clothed Hoover Signature with a different hood. I recognise it as I own the Vax version known as the VCU-02. It's like an Oreck upright but slightly better made and has open wheels but still remains dirty fan in design. I do like it but its very noisy. The handle on the back is identical to the one on the Hoover Signature/TTI Vax VCU02
