Well this one’s restoration has moved fairly fast.
Found in a garden shed sitting on the bare earth for a very long time.

Motor seized.

First thing this morning I asked if there was any cake to have with my morning coffee break while working in the workshop.

Answer NO.

So I quickly knocked up a lemon drizzle cake for my breaks.

First strip down that frozen motor.

Outer turbine cover off.

Outer fan and inner turbine cover off

Bearing mount and motor cover.

Drilled out rivets holding the bearing mount and removed from the motor cover.
Bearings are totally shot.

Armature in good nick

Field windings are in good nick too, just a clean up required.
Brushes look new.

Time for tea and cake.

Need to get new bearings some time next week so I can rebuild the motor.

So I move on to the casing.

OK. I now it’s a bit of a shock, yes its Post Office Red.

The corrosion had eaten all the metal and the sand blaster blow out the rust.
