I have installed a couple. Pretty cool. Very expensive.

If your laundry room is somewhere other than directly below your laundry-producing area, or if fire codes prohibit a traditional laundry chute, this will do the trick.

It's cheaper than adding another laundry room, and it's also cheaper than a hospital visit from falling down the stairs holding a laundry basket.

Still, the worst part of the laundry process for me is the folding and putting away, which this doesn't do (otherwise I would have installed one here at home already).

I see. I brainstormed the idea of having one of these in my house along with a Central Vac. Much like that project, I'd probably only want 2 manual inlets (I don't see the point in the motion/activated ones): one in our upstairs bathroom, and one somewhere in our upstairs hallway. I wouldn't want to have one of the "return" units, as it just seems unnecessary for our tiny house. Again, I'd rather just have a normal laundry chute, but as you said, these may be nice if you can't install a normal chute for whatever reason, and/or if you live in an extremely large home. These are probably best suited for commercial use, particularly in hotels.

You say you've installed a few. Were those separate from your central vac business, or do you by some chance sell them? I'm curious to know.
