I get a lot of vacs for cheap and being that cheap they won't be pretty, I've gotten some especially vile stuff. The Oreck Halo I got from Brooklyn that had living cockroaches in it was the top 5 worst if I had to rank my finds. Thank god I had the foresight to inspect my new arrivals with a flashlight or I would not have seen them. It's still sealed up in a a bag full of roach poison lol.

I can't tell you how many times we had vacs brought into the shop that looked like that. Thats what help keep us in business back in the day.

I think what drives me crazy is the lack of common sense. It won't work? Well gee I wonder why? When was the last time you emptied it? Look at all the hair in the brush roll. Don't you think that this could be a problem? It really makes no sense who people don't understand that this is the issue.

It’s an absolute shame, people always choose to get the

Latest and so-called greatest in technology, give me a goddamn rainbow or even a steam vacuum over that piece of crap any day, the filter is yellow with dirt and crap, and I would much rather have that inside the canister with the water instead of throughout the machine

Bag included?

When the seller sends the buyer their vacuum with a full bag of dirt,which ads to the shipping weight,what is that? Are they so busy they can't take a minute to pull that nasty bag out of there or empty the bin or shake the cloth bag and maybe spray with febreze. Nice to be civilized.

No... they don't take care of them... People just don't think about stuff like this...

I think people just find it boring...they already HATE cleaning and heaven forbid having to turn around and clean a vacuum after using it....aside from just emptying the bin..

So many things I think people just don't think about.. Coffee makers, travel mug lids, washers, dryers, changing your HVAC filters...and on and on..

I just got a travel mug to use here at home and it keeps coffee and hot chocolate super hot because I drink it slowly...but I was trying to figure out how to clean the lid...Like take it APART and clean it because the clean freak in me knew that unless I take the lid itself apart, it's going to get nasty..so I was youtube searching and figured out how it comes apart easily for cleaning.... and came across the video of a Dr. who had a patient who used a travel mug that made them severely ILL for months because the lid was growing bacteria... It confirmed my suspicions...

Absolutely disgusting!

After a few uses we ALWAYS clean out the bin and filters to the best we can, especially on the Sharks. Cleaning them every so often allows us to hold onto them for several years, our main shark is going on to year 4. I may not be the biggest Shark guy but it does fine for us when cleaned out.

And the same goes for.....

my grandmother who had a Hoover Fold Away for almost 10 years! She loved it and it worked fine for her needs, she cleaned it out when it needed to be. Sometimes the vacuum really ISN'T bad, people don't give it the care it needs. But I will say this I'd rather have a Shark or a 2000s Hoover bagless over the stick vacs people are using for their main units now!

Even cheap things can last if you maintain them...(most of the time)

I had a shark professional for 4 years and used the hell out of it at my house.. I kept it clean by using another vacuum to suck the bin and filters clean...the hose did crack but I can see how I could have prevented that looking back on it just by using an aftermarket extension hose (which I now use on my bagged vacuum) I called Shark and they sent me the part and I gave the vacuum away in great condition. Not sure if it's still alive and working or not. Probably not. After going from that Shark back to a HEPA bagged it makes you appreciate bagged vacuums so much. 10x less hassle

Agreed. I can relate to a lot of what you've said. It's one of the reason's I hate bagless vacuums so much. I had a girlfriend about 10-12 years ago, who moved in with me and then insisted I use her bagless Bissell plasticrap vac to vacuum the house because she thought it was more effective than the ones I had at the time. It was a total pain in the ass! It took longer to empty the bin and clean the filters than it did to vacuum the damn apartment. A disposable filter bag is so neat and simple, I can't for the life of me understand why anyone gets sucked into the hype that bagless equals more convenient, when, in most cases, one can change a filter bag on most machines in a minute or less.
