I could be wrong, but I think it doesn't actually have a bottom plate.

Can't help you with the rest i'm afraid.

Great find and good luck!

It is my intention to refurb it ourselves CitroenBX, and it will end up with some other rarities we did (De Stijl's DC01/DC02/DC04 and a DC03i) on display in our shop when we move to bigger premises.

Singingrainbow, seems you are right on the soleplate. The G-Force had one, the Cyclon didn't. One of each here:

Interesting, I didn't know thw G-force did have one. Judging by the pictures, there are more differences then I expected between the cyclon and the G-force.

The Amway parts won't fit. Cyclon does have a plastic brush roller. Wonder if Dyson (as in James himself) would have a spare brush bar? In any event, this is what my Cyclon brush roller looks like.

Thanks Dysonman1, I had seen elsewhere that it had a wooden one (see my pic above). So maybe they were not all the same.

I think we will have to modify something to fit. As it goes, we are not too far from the main Qualtex warehouse, and we have a good relationship with them, so I am going to ask to poke about the warehouse with the housing in my hand. Of all the brushrolls they have, I am sure I can come up with something pretty close.

As you have one of these in Missouri, may I ask if you imported it from the UK or they sold them in the US as well?

So we have started building the Rotork back up. And we are missing a hose. They have two similar hoses on the side. I guess they are the same as they interchange. But I only have one.....

Can anyone tell me what the American model was called that was based on these please? And more importantly, does it have those side hoses?

As I understand it, there was no American equivalent. At least none that I am aware of. The only other similar machine was the Japanese G-Force.

Great restoration job. They never sold the Cyclon or the G-Force in the USA. I got mine from England.

While the Cyclon 1000 was the current model, the management of Amway (Scamway) scammed James out of the blueprints to the Cyclon 1000, and had Bissell make a knock off called the Amway CMS-1000. It was terrible. No shroud, and a clogging pre-motor filter. Dyson eventually licensed his patents to IONA who made the Vectron upright for Johnson Wax, as well as made the Fantom Thunder and the Kenmore Destiny. IONA did NOT want a pre-motor filter so they could sell $75 Hepa exhaust filters, and shorten the life of the motor. The license agreement ended with IONA in 2001, and James did not renew it, electing instead to bring Dysons to the USA.

Just as an FYI: the first dual cyclonic upright machine in the USA wasn't a vacuum 'per se'. It was the NovaDry carpet shampooer for Sears. Using Capture dry carpet cleaner, it also vacuumed up the powder (like a DC04 Zorbster). Since it blew the dirt (dried carpet powder) into the bin, rather than sucked it in, there was no need for an 'after the cyclone' filter - the airflow into the cyclones remained constant.
There was a Vectron cylinder vac. It was wet/dry. Seamus has one in the UK.
