Kitchen pictures of our new house

Now I know a vintage kitchen is not what everyone likes. But it suits me. My portable kitchen aid custom 21 will go beside the big old 65 Frigidaire. My Westinghouse is going in the laundry room. I wish the fridge matched the stove

I didn't change anything. I am however putting a 42 inch 1962 Nutone hood over the stove

It looks so big. Not terribly fond of the flooring... but.... a nice, bright kitchen. You'll make it look fantastic in no time.

Re Floor....

I couldn't afford Marmoleum which is real old fashioned linoleum, so I just cleaned up the 1970s floor, I scrubbed it with pure ammonia and a B-8 Electrolux, rinsed it 3 times and gave it 2 coats of wax.

I'll go on record as really liking the floor.
When we bought our house, we went through and put hardwood floors everywhere except the bathrooms.
More and more, I'm starting to miss the beautiful brown, probably 1980s linoleum that was in the kitchen.
As I get older, I'm finding that I want to be surrounded by things that take me back in time a little bit.
The most vintage thing in our kitchen now is the Western Electric 2554 phone on the wall.

I guess I have a phobia....

About new things, I really do dislike ANY new appliances etc, I am already thinking about getting rid of that side by side GE, Its old , but NOT old enough to suit me!

Neat kitchen.

The side by side should be pretty reliable as it's lasted this long (probably 20 years or more). I'd rather have it than anything on the market now, at least it has chrome trim too which nothing now does. But to each his own.

Very cool! If it was me, I would swap the oven and cabinetry above it with the refrigerator. Looks a bit cramped in that spot and blocking your heat vent. Or if you said you hated it, replace the fridge with a nice smaller 1950's fridge. Like the one that has the huge V-shape handle on the front and you can open the door from both sides, those are amazing!

The floor is beautiful! It looks a bit Russian with how ornate it is, but once the kitchen comes together more it should fit in quite nicely.

Is there a water line behind the fridge? Also is there gas hookup?

I just noticed that pull chain light over the sink, is it vintage? Love the old pull chain lights.

Eh, it looks clean and not broken. Can't ask for more than that, really, at least not for a 60 year old kitchen. Is the spot next to the stove for a standalone dishwasher, or washing machine?

Nothing there, but im putting my portable dishwasher there, the cabinets are too short to put in a built in one, 33 inches instead of 36, the lady whos kitchen that was was short and he husband custom made them

The fridge has a icemaker,

No gas hookup, BUT there iS propane heat in the house so I could run a line to the kitchen , if a Chambers came along I might

to cool those home baked pies in! Lol. Does the nu-tone hood have a scalloped front like a lot did back in the 60's? They tied in nicely with the hardwood trim around the cabinets, like you have over the sink there. I'm with you on having older appliances.Way better. I heard that fridges, washers & dryers are no longer considered "Durable goods" which usually means they'll last over 10 years. And for what they charge now... nope.
