Kirby Tradition question

Hello,
Can someone tell me what could be the issue this is having? My regular use Kirby Tradition often starts out at a slightly slower speed when it is first turned on, and the light is dimmer for a couple seconds, then it gets brighter and the speed comes back up. This happens in both rug and hose mode. I'm thinking this has something to do with the speed selector switch? Otherwise once it reaches proper speed it runs normally.

This could be due to worn motor brushes, also! Or, the speed control switch.

Andy,

Most likely if it isn't the speed switch then it might be the carbon brushes.
