Is this a non-factory rebuild? Sanitronics are not my forte, but I've only seen sanitronics in green. The belt lifter is off of a 560.

Anthony,

That would indeed be a non-factory rebuild, but rather one by a factory-authorized service center or independent. Going by the fact it was re-trimmed to make it look like a Classic III, I'll say this D80 (if it indeed has the correct two-speed safety switch) was rebuilt in 1978 by that mom-n-pop shop.

First rule

The first rule with Kirby is reading the tag. Look for the tag reads Kirby a Scott Fetzer company is important. It is a true vacuum. The label model is what the vacuum is. It's modeled after the Kirby classic 3 model 2cb.
If it has the wide axle and wide wheels it's good thing. The wider axle helps you get all 8 positions on the height adjustor.
The d80 with classic 3 axle is the best Kirby ever. I mean suction wise I think it cleans better than any other vacuum and any other Kirby.
The vacuum would be trimmed in avacodo green. It's the vacuum on the brave little toaster.

I noticed also...

This machine has an F&G bag converter which is not factory. The original bag would have been green with a sani-emptor for emptying the dust since it was a shakeout. To determine if it's a 2 speed motor, take off the front nozzle and take a picture. Sometimes, store owners would bypass the safety switch so they could interchange other parts like hoses and polishing heads.

Yes

Catch 22 there. If it came with classic 3 attachments it would fit this vacuum. If it had 562 you would have to take off speed switch which I wouldn't do. If
